Eddy Current Testing

Uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to detect flaws in conductive materials

Eddy Current Testing

Eddy Current Testing is an NDT Service provided by Alliance across the UK. This technique is used to detect surface and near surface defects on relatively small areas; without the need to remove surface paint prior to testing. The equipment is light and compact and provides immediate feedback, making it ideally suited for inspecting on site.

Suitability for Eddy Current Testing:

  • Surface and near-surface detection
  • Material and coating thickness measurements
  • Conductivity measurements for material identification
  • Monitoring and determination of casing depth

Advantages of Eddy Current Testing:

  • Sensitivity to small cracks and other defects
  • Versatile
  • Lightweight and portable probe kit
  • Test objects need minimal preparation
  • On Site Technicians, available
  • Availability 24/7
  • Instant results
  • Computerised reports

Technicians available throughout the UK

Eddy Current Testing can be carried out on site throughout in the UK, our Technicians are all dual-qualified in PCN / ASNT and produce computerised reports on site at the time of a test.

Eddy Current Testing can be carried out in conjunction with other NDT methods to produce a comprehensive inspection service.
